Letter to Old Navy

Dear Old Navy,

By acknowledging that December 25 and the season as a whole is "the Christmas Season," you are not endorsing any religion. By working so hard to not offend a large number of people who will most likely be opening a gift and not working on December 25th, you ARE offending an even larger group of people with tremendous buying power by not acknowleging that we, indeed, are in the Christmas Season.

There is nothing offensive or harmful to the notion or belief in celebrating Christmas. Christians celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ and non-Christians celebrate being with family and friends; and both celebrate by giving gifts to others, sharing food, singing hopeful, peaceful and inspirational songs and eating turkey, fruit cake and candy canes. The Christmas Season is a joyous time when people of various faiths and non-faiths celebrate LIFE.

I know I am only one individual, but there are others like me who think like me. And before you shake your head in a condescending fashion, keep in mind that it was ONE individual who started the entire anti-Christmas movement. One person started that.

It is Christmas. And another movement is afoot. As a retailer with the intent of refusing to acknowledge Christmas, you will feel this movement financially.

In this country, there is Freedom of Religion. The Freedom to TAKE AWAY Religion is nowhere in the Constitution. So go ahead....do the right thing by your customers. You are protected by the Constitution of the United States of America.

Did the Pilgrims have moments of silence?

While watching the Charlie Brown Mayflower Voyage program on ABC, I was pleased that such an entertaining, family-centered, educational show was featured in prime time. It offered a simple, yet accurate historical account of our Thanksgiving tradition.

However. As the Pilgrims, Snoopy, Charlie Brown, Lucy, etc. sat down to feast on the Thanksgiving meal, a moment of silence was called for to remember those who were no longer with them. Then, each person at the table was "thankful" for something. Not once was God mentioned.

Have we as a culture become so politically correct that we have to take facts out of our American heritage and history? I guess the answer is yes. How sad. And factually wrong.

Because of the persecution the Separatists experienced in England prior to their journey to America, I doubt they had a moment of silence at the Thanksgiving feast. Because of the hardships they faced on a stinky, cramped boat with little food, disease and mice, I doubt the Pilgrims had moments of silence. Because of the first winter which killed half of the those who made the dangerous journey across the Atlantic ocean to this unsettled land, I doubt there were moments of silence.

If any group of people was "ate up" with God, it was these people. They left their homes and native country to go where they could worship God they way they wanted. The very purpose of their difficult journey was God. They sacrified everything they had for God. They suffered for God. There were persecuted for God. They died for God. And they lived for God.

These people were so profoundly grounded in their faith and beliefs that nothing else mattered but their desire to worship their God in a way that wasn't dictated by any country, ruler or church. They risked everything to be able to come to the New World. So that they could worship God.

While people in California debate about whether or not children should wear traditional Pawtuxet or Wampanoag "gear" for an historically factual, educational and 40-year celebration between 2 schools, they miss the point. There WAS a Thanksgiving feast between the Indians and Pilgrims. It really happened. Why should anyone be offended? During that first Thanksgiving, friendship between the two peoples was celebrated. Life was celebrated. A bountiful harvest was celebrated. And God was celebrated.

So shame on ABC for allowing one of our most precious nuggets of American heritage to become tainted with political correctness by taking God out of the first Thanksgiving, when for the Pilgrims, the first Thanksgiving was ALL ABOUT GOD. And shame on ABC for this obvious attempt of indoctrination or our children. (Or maybe bowing the alter of political correctness.) Just stay with the script and stop worrying about who you'll offend. Historical facts may offend, but facts can't be changed. Otherwise, they are lies. It's that simple.

There is a not-so-quiet movement going on that is whitewashing our American history and culture little by little and Americans are letting it happen. Educate the younger generations about early American history...even the ugly parts. Even though we may not like some parts of our past and are ashamed of them, it's important to recognize the ugly facts, too. How else do we learn from mistakes? Buy books for your children and for yourself that tell the story of Thanksgiving. Unless God-fearing, real Americans take a stand, we will not recognize our country soon.

And for the people in Cali who don't like the whole Pilgrim/Indian thing this time of year, why don't you just go into work on that 4th Thursday. I'm sure your coworkers who DO celebrate Thanksgiving will appreciate it. You know...since you're against it and all. What better way to take a stand but by going to work on that day. And we can be Thankful to God for you for your selflessness. :)

Stop being Politicians. Start being Statesmen.

It irks me to hear the politicians in Washington talk about losing/gaining seats in both houses. They talk about elections and agendas in terms of a sports competition.

Ladies and gentlemen, the business of the People is NOT a sporting competition. You disrespect constituents, the Constitution and our nation when you carry on with such nonsense.

Get to work. Stop jockeying for power. Stop pointing fingers and don't you dare waste even more of my tax money by attempting to impeach President Bush. While I prefer that you politicians do very little work (because I believe the People actually benefit from Congressional inaction), there is much to do to get this country back on track.

SIDEBAR: No bailouts for automobile industry. Let's call a spade a spade: unions, poor decisions and greed got the Big Three where they are. A little humble pie will serve them better than a single dime of my hard-earned money. Chapter 11 will allow them to restructure and come back better than ever. A bailout will buy them more time to do what they are already doing.

Funny how the average American has a clearer picture of the state of our economy. The folks on the Hill are clueless and out of touch. If the economy continue to head toward the Port 'O Potty, they won't feel it they way the taxpaying working class will. Paycheck to paycheck will have new meaning for us. They'll be riding out the storm from Nantucket Sound or their condo on the beach.

In summary: stop playing politics. Start being STATESMEN and PUBLIC SERVANTS. Do your jobs and do what's best for the country as a whole.

Article Link from American Thinker on Localism: The New and Improved Attack on Free Speech

http://www.americanthinker.com/2008/11/obama_declares_war_on_conserva.html

Boy....the Left REALLY wants to silence conservative radio. Do they not realize that they aren't fighting to silence Rush, Sean, Beck, etc.? They are silencing American citizens. They are attacking free speech. (What would James Madison think today?)

Conservative radio is the voice of Americans. The Constitution protects free speech. If the FCC allows certain swear words on television before the kiddies go to bed, and then turns around and pushes the localism agenda....grab your pitchfork. The Constitution is on our side. And if the politicians were familiar with it at all, they'd realize this.

This country belongs to us. Not the people in Washington or those who sit around polished boardrooms sipping Pellegrino. WE are the backbone of this country and we can take it back.

Right now the target is conservative radio (aka anyone who thinks differently from the Left...and that should scare the bojangles out of anyone.) Who will they target next? My God.....where are we? China?

I had no problem with any security measures the Bush Administration put into place to get the bad guys (aka Muslim Extremists who want to kill every American). The Leftists screamed like little girls about civil rights, yada, yada. But what the Obama Administration and those working in the interest of the Left will make security measures by Bush look like a tea party. (Hmmm....tea party. Seems like I remember something from History about a tea party and some really pissed off Americans. Weird.)

Educate yourself and educate others. We must be heard. We must not be silenced. This is our country and we must remind Obama that he will be President of ALL of the United States and ALL of the people.

Contact your Representative!!

http://clerk.house.gov/110/lrc/pd/petitions/Dis3.htm

Here is what the link says and below are the names of representatives who support this motion. If your Rep's name isn't on the list, contact him or her immediately and ask them to sign House Resolution 694 which will allow for an up or down vote for H.R. 2905 which will prevent the FCC from enforcing the (Un)Fairness Doctrine.

Motion to Discharge a Committee from the Consideration of a resolution
October 17, 2007
To the Clerk of the House of Representatives:

Pursuant to clause 2 of rule XV, I, Mike Pence, move to discharge the Committee on Rules from the consideration of the resolution (H. Res. 694) entitled, a resolution providing for consideration of the bill (H.R. 2905) to prevent the Federal Communications Commission from repromulgating the fairness doctrine; which was referred to said committee on October 1, 2007, in support of which motion the undersigned Members of the House of Representatives affix their signatures, to wit:

We must prepare to do battle and defeat the Fairness Doctrine

John F. Kennedy said, "We are not afraid to entrust the American people with unpleasant facts, foreign ideas, alien philosophies, and competitive values. For a nation that is afraid to let its people judge the truth and falsehood in an open market is a nation that is afraid of its people."

Yet the elected officials in OUR Federal government have pledged to bring back the Fairness Doctrine which would go completely against what JFK said. Basically, Liberals are TERRIFIED of the American people and believe we can't handle the facts. Worse, they don't want us to KNOW the facts. This is the crap that goes on in other countries and not the one the Framers envisioned for this nation.

There are phones, faxes and email addresses for every Congressman and Senator. I challenge you to write and call as many as you can and remind them of JFK's words and then remind them that we have a representative government and the power they exert is what we loan them on Election Day. It is their responsility to represent the voice of their constituents and uphold, not dissect and discard parts of the United States Constitution. That document represents what has been so great about American for over 200 years. We cannot allow these dolts to turn us into Cuba/Venezuela/China.

Take action now. Speak up. And do not stop until they hear us.
