It irks me to hear the politicians in Washington talk about losing/gaining seats in both houses. They talk about elections and agendas in terms of a sports competition.
Ladies and gentlemen, the business of the People is NOT a sporting competition. You disrespect constituents, the Constitution and our nation when you carry on with such nonsense.
Get to work. Stop jockeying for power. Stop pointing fingers and don't you dare waste even more of my tax money by attempting to impeach President Bush. While I prefer that you politicians do very little work (because I believe the People actually benefit from Congressional inaction), there is much to do to get this country back on track.
SIDEBAR: No bailouts for automobile industry. Let's call a spade a spade: unions, poor decisions and greed got the Big Three where they are. A little humble pie will serve them better than a single dime of my hard-earned money. Chapter 11 will allow them to restructure and come back better than ever. A bailout will buy them more time to do what they are already doing.
Funny how the average American has a clearer picture of the state of our economy. The folks on the Hill are clueless and out of touch. If the economy continue to head toward the Port 'O Potty, they won't feel it they way the taxpaying working class will. Paycheck to paycheck will have new meaning for us. They'll be riding out the storm from Nantucket Sound or their condo on the beach.
In summary: stop playing politics. Start being STATESMEN and PUBLIC SERVANTS. Do your jobs and do what's best for the country as a whole.
