Letter to Pelosi

Speaker Pelosi,

As a firm believer in the ideals set forth by the Framers that America should be a government of the people by the people, your intentions to re-write the House Rules, as reported by the AP, is downright tyrannical and unacceptable to say the least. While your party is clearly in control of the direction of this country, never forget that the power lies with the People. By silencing those in the Republican Party, you are silencing the voices of millions of Americans who are wide awake and paying attention to the unraveling of this country at the hands of our elected officials.

Too many of you in Washington have lost focus. You claim to want what's best for America. Clearly, you want what's best for your Party. And the People see it.

We have too many politicians in Washington, Madame Speaker. We desperately need public servants who are not afraid to agree with or debate with those in a different party. The People lend you their power...their voice. Listen to the People. Stop playing politics and work with Republicans to move this country forward.

Again, your intentions are nothing short of tyranny, ma'am. Please re-think what you are doing and consider the words of one our greatest presidents and Founders:
"I have sworn . . . eternal hostility against every form of tyranny over the mind of man." Thomas Jefferson.

In the many days ahead, I challenge you and all leaders in the House and Senate to do what's best for our Country and not for the Party. Read the Declaration and Constitution. Aside from the Bible, they are the most precious documents ever written and what a lucky people we are to be the benefactors of those documents. And what a disservice to all of those who sacrificed so much to build the government as outlined in those papers if we abandon those ideals and principles.

And don't forget, Americans are at their best when pinned to the mat. If government will get out of the way, the People will move this country in the right direction.

Forget Rs and Ds. It's time to be Americans.
